Sizes are real-world. Resolution is given in dpi, as in printing: how many pixels fit in one inch (2.54 cm) of wall. Murals and billboards are printed at about 10–30 dpi because they are seen from metres away; posters use 150–300 dpi. Higher looks sharper close up but paints slower. A wall is limited to about 4 megapixels, so large walls get a lower resolution automatically.

add_photo_alternateWall photo

Paint goes onto the photo. Add a depth map (greyscale, same framing, white = closest to you) and the paint wraps the 3D surface: distance, spray angle and shading follow the relief, and rollers skip the recesses.

The filled part of the drawing becomes a piece of cardboard that blocks paint. SVG shapes and PNG transparency are used directly; for flat images, dark areas become cardboard.

textureWall material from textures

Use a scanned PBR texture set, the way architectural renders do, for example a free CC0 material from Poly Haven or ambientCG. Download it on your computer, then pick the files here. Only the colour map is required. Height gives the paint relief to follow, the normal map adds fine shading detail, and roughness controls shine and how much paint the wall soaks up.
